Milan-based architect and designer vincenzo de cotiis was born in gonzaga, in the province of mantova; after his training at the milan polytechnic he established vincenzo de cotiis architects in milan.
 
An innovative appropriation of salvaged and reclaimed materials, complete with signs of age and use, combined with the new, precious or industrial, rough or raw, define de cotiis’s original style. A perfect imperfection, achieved through deconstruction, recon-struction and re-appropriation of salvaged textile, metal, wood, leather and stone. In his work origins are often abstracted but age and use is always left vaguely visible as de cotiis finds beauty in the patina of life, seen in his architecture and interiors projects for private homes, hotels, restaurants and retail across the globe as well as his furniture and design work.
 
Residential includes projects for private clients in italy, uk and china, hospitality in-cludes the straf hotel and t’à bistro in milan, le chiavi d’oro in arezzo and the new upperhills boutique hotel and residences in shenzhen, china.
In retail clients include the most important multi-brand retailers in italy including antonia in milan, the gruppo coin’s excelsior concept stores in milan, rome and venice. At the moment de cotiis is working on l’eclaireur in los angeles, the new krizia store and the brand new aesop in milan, and has fashioned stores for i.t in hong kong, 01 men urban store in guangzhou, stores in vienna, moscow, bucharest, barcelona.
 
Under the progetto domestico label, de cotiis designs and produces one off and limited edition pieces. Highly collectable, the work is sold through galleria de cotiis, his double location milan gallery and exhibited with special projects at leading global design fairs including design miami/ and design miami/basel, pad london, design dubai, art par-is and new york design week.
 
As in architecture his gallery pieces incorporate recycled and reclaimed materials, in-stead his furniture design work for leading italian producers such as baxter, pisa-based wood specialists ceccotti collezioni, kitchen makers rossana and upholstery specialists busnelli, he uses new materials, but always in his signature.
